Dementia Training with the Positive Approach to Care (PAC)
Understanding dementia changes everything.
At Flamingo Pathways, we offer practical, hands-on dementia training based on the Positive Approach to Care® (PAC), developed by Teepa Snow.
This approach focuses on the chemical and physical changes in the brain, how these changes impact a person’s abilities, and what others may observe as a result. This training emphasises recognising individual needs and supporting those experiencing brain changes with respectful, therapeutic approaches.
Why This Training Matters
When someone you care for is living with dementia, it’s easy to feel unsure, frustrated, or overwhelmed.
You might be wondering:
- Why are they behaving this way?
- Why isn’t communication working anymore?
- Am I doing the right thing?
PAC training gives you the tools to answer these questions with confidence.
What You’ll Learn
Through interactive, hands-on sessions, you will learn how to:
- Understand the physical and chemical changes in the brain
- Recognise different stages of dementia and what to expect
- Respond to behaviours with empathy instead of frustration
- Communicate in ways that feel calm, respectful, and effective
- Support the person; not just the condition
This is not just theory. You’ll practise real techniques you can use immediately.
A Different Way to Care
At the heart of PAC is a simple but powerful belief:
Everyone is doing their best.
When we understand this, everything shifts.
Care becomes less about control and more about connection.
